Insurance and Financial Management of the Phoenix Group
Shekel Group, owned by the Phoenix In-
surance Company specializes inmanag-
ing pension and financial arrangements,
private and collective health and nursing in-
surance, retirement and plans for the elderly.
Shekel Group set up Shekel Mortgage Planning
specializing in consultancy to mortgage takers
and repayments. The Group provides compre-
hensive and professional non-banking advice in
the field and this is another set of instruments
in the package of services offered to the Group’s
clients.
The central company in the Group is Shekel In-
surance Agency (2008) Ltd., one of Israel’s larg-
est insurance agencies, which has led the field
from 1979 through professionalism, transpar-
ency, technological innovation, and the range
of services provided to clients. The Group works
with all insurance companies, pension funds
and most of Israel’s provident and advance
study funds. The Group provides highly profes-
sional services to about 250,000 business and
private clients with products worth about NIS
12 billion and managing for them collection of
annual premiums worth about NIS 2.7 billion.
The Group has developed the holistic manage-
ment approach through the understanding
that using one management body allows rec-
ognition of all the client’s assets and commit-
ments. Overall data allows Shekel group to offer
an educated solution adapted to the various
insurance and financial needs of clients and
taking into account the changes taking place
over their lives.
Service “Surrounding” Clients
To give customers the best, most professional
and comprehensive service, Shekel Group pro-
vides a range of services such as: financial ar-
rangements management, health and nursing
risk management, executive remuneration and
mortgage planning, to grant a solution to all
customers’ individual and family needs as well
as for companies and public bodies.
The Group specializes in managing pension ar-
rangements, and is engaged multi-disciplinary
marketing such as: pension funds, executive
insurance, provident funds, health and nurs-
ing insurance, savings programs, property risk
insurance and travel insurance. The Group pro-
vides solutions for a broad range of insured cli-
ents by using the most advanced operational
infrastructure available backed by a broad scope
professional operation and a special depart-
ment offering personal attention.
Group Structure
Shekel has a unique structure focusing on the
client with specializations including a service
network for employers, marketing and service
for insured clients and a marketing and service
network for senior executives and the elderly.
The Financial Arrangements Management Di-
vision works on the forefront with clients and
employers to coordinate activities in the pen-
sion, health and financial sectors.
The Executive Remuneration and Pensioners
Marketing Division compiles overall insurance
and finance portfolios for executive clients, and
companies. The Operations Division manages
the back office service setup, which provides
day-to-day responses to employers and insured
individuals.

Kela Insurance Agency (1987) Ltd. – Specializes
in managing insurance, pension and financial
arrangements.
Shekel Mortgages – Specializes in non-
bank consultancy for mortgage takers and
repayments.
Shekel Ofek Insurance Agency – Specializes in
pension and health insurance.
Human Resources
The Group has about 380 employees commit-
ted to provide clients with the highest level of
professional service and handling routine and
changing needs.
Shekel Group sees its employees as an impor-
tant and vital asset and invests major resourc-
es in their welfare, professional and personal
development.
Technological Network
Niva software house provides technological sup-
port to the Group and its clients in decision mak-
ing, management and control. Shekel is the only
insurance agency operating a software house
within the Group. The software allows for flex-
ibility in providing solutions for clients includ-
ing managing the range of social benefits and a
reporting system for employees and employers
on their insurance portfolios. Shekel has also de-
veloped unique simulations for full consultations
in insurance, pensions and provident funds.
Website
Shekel’s website allows clients access to their
personal portfolios (life insurance, pensions,
provident funds, health and private savings
plans). The site is updated every month and
offers interactive learning, a series of various
financial calculators, professional video clips,
a range of services options and many profes-
sional articles. Shekel enables customers to
contact service representatives through virtual
chat. Each month 14,000 clients currently enjoy
website service.
