nerswas established in 1972, and is cur-
rently one of Israel’s top five architectural
firms with activities in Israel and abroad. The firm

ing high-tech, research laboratories, hospitals, uni-
versities, commercial centers and office high-rises

and Beijing, and comprise over 70 employees. The
firm offers overall architectural serviceincluding:
architecture, interior design, landscape architecture
and urban planning. The firm’s planning process
combines functional solutions for complex briefs

planning adapted to client’s needs.
Approach and WorkMethods
The confluence of architecture, technology and sci-

process which creates inspirational work environ-
ment. Design and planning process integrates a
flow between the interior and the exterior environ-
ment while focusing on the client’s practical needs..

Main Projects and Specializations
Planning and design of Technological, Health
and Research Buildings:
The firm designs High-
Tech industrial parks such as a 200,000 sq. m.
Bio-Tech Park in Hefei, China, and MATAM Park
in Haifa. Campuses for TEVA and Elbit Systems,
Fabs for production of microelectronic chips, HP
ink factories, pharmaceutical plants, such as Rafa
and Taro, National facilities, Weizmann Institute,
Technion, BenGurionUniversity, HebrewUniversity,
Bar Ilan University and more. MEA has designed
many buildings for leading-edge science compa-
nies in Israel, USA and China, the Czech Republic
and India. The firmgained invaluable experience in
designing hospitals in Moscow, Afula, Haifa’s Car-
mel and RambamHospitals and the large hospital
compounds in the Caucasus Region and China.
Planning and Design of Public Buildings and Com-
plexes:
The firm’s rich project portfolio allows it
to lead national-scale projects. The firm together
with SOM and Moshe Safdie planned the Ben
Gurion Airport 2000 Landside Terminal covering
100,000-sq.m., and an additinal 40,000-sq m ex-
tension project.
Planning and Design of Industrial Buildings:
Proj-
ects include buildings for low-tech such, Reshafim
metals factory in Ashkelon, Negev Ceramics factory
in Yeruham, Hadera Paper facility inModiin, various
logistics centers, projects for Rhines and Gav Yam
Corp.and more.
Planning of Infrastructure Complexes:
The firmhas
been a part of design and construction of five large
power stations, a desalination plant in Ashkelon,
the national water filtering station for Mekorot, con-
trol and auxiliary buildings for the petrochemical
industry, the Israeli Electrical Company and Israel
Railways.
UrbanPlanning&LandscapeArchitecture:
TheMEA
firmhas a sister company “Makom”, specializing in
the field of Urban Planning and Landscape Design,
in which Dr. Benny Shadmi is a partner. Makom is
planning a Russian city for 135,000 residents and
projects in China and Israel,.
Planning of Tourist Sites:
In the area of Tourist In-
dustry, MEA has planned the Hamat Gader campus,
designed the conversion of Holiday Inn Crown Plaza
in Haifa, a hotel in Haifa’s German Colony, as well
as urban building plans for Haifa’s German Colony.
Currently, MEA isworking on a large tourismproject
in Switzerland, which includes a ski resort and a
hotel complex.
Planning&Preservation of HistoricSites:
The firm
has vast experience in preservation planning of
buildings and complexes, including Haifa’s original
Technion building, Migdal Tsedek in Rosh Ha’ayin,
preservingKalatNimrod,BaramSynagogue,Knights
Hall in Old Akko (Acre), renovating and preserving
Akko’s (Acre) Old Citywalls, RamhalSynagogue and
the Turkish baths Akko (Acre)
Green Projects:
MEA projects include sustainable,
i.e. “Green” projects, with the dewsign process
stressing the various sustainability requirements
from the very first stages of the project. MEA proj-
ects include a LEED Gold certified project in Haifa
for a major microelectronics manufacturer, with a
total area of 50,000 sqm. An HP plant in Kiryat Gat,
designed byMEA, has been awarded a LEEDSilver
certificate. The latest building designed for R&D
was awarded a LEED Platinum certificate.
